Every year since 2014, Floor Covering News hosts a friendly fantasy football competition between companies in the flooring industry, all to support charity.
The magazine started the Fantasy Football for a Cause League to encourage comradery between teams and provide a fun way to give back to the community. Each participating team chose a charity to support and earned points each week based on their fantasy football picks. At the end of the season, the team with the most points wins, with monetary prizes for the other top finishers.
This year, Mohawk Residential came in first place, winning $11,750 to support the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Chattanooga. Mohawk Commercial finished the competition in third place, earning $6,250 for Susan G. Komen, their chosen charity to support.
All participants earned at least $1,500 for their chosen charity, a win for everyone involved in the challenge.
Newcomer to the league, Financial Analyst Lewis Main, coached this year’s winning Residential team. His skills with analyzing data mixed with years of fantasy football experience were key to the group’s first place win for the Ronald McDonald House.
“I really enjoyed being able to take a personal interest like this and be able to talk about it at work, all for a good cause,” Lewis said. “We had a nice rivalry going between us and the Commercial team, and I hope more teams will participate next year to make it more competitive and give us more chances to support these charities.”
