April 10, 2019: One-on-One with Fernando Galvan

In addition to increasing e-sign submissions and adding new members to our CoP, another one of our 2019 goals is connecting with our e-sign community. Please send ideas of what you’d like to learn about in an upcoming weekly emails. This channel is for you, so let us know what will help you with your submissions.

We’re excited to continue highlighting individuals who are doing outstanding work regularly submitting quality e-signs. This week, we talked to Safety Specialist II Fernando Galvan from our IVC facility in Dalton, GA.

Fernando GalvanQ: How do you incorporate e-signs into your work day?

A: I work with the safety group and use e-signs to engage employees with messages such as the safety topic of the month, Neighborhood Watch pinpoints, or simply recognizing team members by posting their picture and acknowledging their good work. I also use it to clarify common misconceptions or misunderstandings of our procedures and work activities such as what safe work habits look like.

Q: What advice have you found helpful since you are a new submitter?

A: The best advice for a new submitter is to keep messages short and simple and be creative with slogans and wordplay. Also, pictures are your best friend…“a picture is worth a thousand words.”

Q: What responses do you get from the people at your location?

A: Employees will ask questions about the e-signs and often give suggestions on what to post. Most employees like to see their pictures on the e-signs when we recognize them for their work. It motivates them to keep doing a good job.

Q: What motivates you to submit e-signs?

A: In the workplace, communication and engagement is key to success. E-signs facilitate the communication process across the entire facility without cluttering boards with fliers and can easily be updated on a weekly, monthly or as needed basis.

Thank you so much for your feedback Fernando!

Be sure to check in next month to hear from another peer. And as always, keep submitting. You could be featured next!
