On May 23, Mohawk’s recently retired CFO Frank Boykin was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s annual CFO Awards event at the Georgia Aquarium.
Before an audience comprised of hundreds of regional business leaders, Boykin was celebrated for 40 years of exceptional leadership in the finance field, including 25 years with Mohawk, during which time the Company completed more than 40 acquisitions and grew from $700 million to $10 billion in sales.
“It’s a great honor to receive this award from the Atlanta Business Chronicle, and I’m flattered to have been chosen among so many highly qualified, successful individuals,” Boykin said.
A video highlighting Boykin’s career achievements was shown prior to the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award. Mohawk Chairman and CEO Jeff Lorberbaum, Mohawk Audit Committee Chairman Joe Onorato and Tom Johnson, former president of CNN, provided commentary about Boykin’s accomplishments and praise for his years of success.
“We were really lucky to have Frank on our team,” said Lorberbaum. “It’s not easy to find people of Frank’s caliber. He has always had great ideas to deliver better results, and when problems arose, he identified ways to minimize our risks. He always did the right thing for the business.”
In addition to his career at Mohawk, Boykin was also praised for his work to spearhead the construction of a new addiction treatment and recovery center that will serve Atlanta and the state of Georgia. The project unites Emory University Hospital and the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation to create a center of excellence for addiction treatment, recovery, support and education with an emphasis on the growing opioid crisis.
“Early in my career, I was encouraged not only to improve professionally but to find activities outside of finance to give back to my community,” Boykin said. “Georgia has a major issue with opioid addiction, and the state lacked a world-class treatment and recovery resource. I’m proud that this partnership will create a new standard of care in our region.”
