Mohawk Welcomes New Associate Program Members

Mohawk's Associate Program is experiencing another “first.”

Five associates have been selected for the Spring 2019 class, including two IS associates, marking the first time IS has participated in this specialized program that introduces potential management candidates to all areas of the manufacturing business.

“We’ve been doing the associate program since 2011, and we’ve had 99 participants graduate,” Vice President of Human Resources Rod Wedemeier said. “It’s a win-win for all of us. The Company gets a fresh set of ideas that help us look at our business differently, and the associates get an opportunity to make an impact on the organization.”

The group first participates in five and a half weeks of initial training going on plant tours and hearing from subject matter experts to get a big picture view of Mohawk. Then, they spend the next eight months in a facility under the guidance of a hiring manager and mentor on a business project and detailed accomplishment record.

“Continuous improvement is at the core of everything we do,” Chief Information Officer Jana Kanyadan said. “We’re constantly looking for opportunities to improve our processes, do things differently, improve customer experience and decrease cost. We’re excited to see how the associates will contribute to that during their time with us.”

Associates are chosen from both college recruits and internal candidates with recent degrees who have the potential to be future leaders of the business. The impact on business results from each project the associates work on ranges from 50 thousand to 1.15 million.

Congratulations to this new group of associate program participants:
